Huh? Why?
Completely cut off, no chance.
It was 2 years ago, its possible I just noticed I'd lost at 6 moves, and played longer, or it may have been 12 moves...

Re: Tragedy of the commons

You dismiss those people? If they don't know what they're doing, yes. People with 'good intentions' ban certain people from marriages, make abortion illegal, put _more_ poison in cigarettes rather than place the blame for a fire on the person who left an ignition source unattended, tell private bus...

Re: Tragedy of the commons

I don't buy the "corporations are evil" thing spouted by many people (not necessarily you). Corporations can be bad in the same way that individuals can be bad. Corporations by themselves are simply organizational and legal structures for how groups of people can work together; they are i...

Re: Clojure hate and Language Wars

It was in a video here . (At 43:00 into the video.) Not to disappoint, but it was just casually mentioned in one sentence, when offering arguments that Clojure doesn't have to compete against other languages like Scala; there doesn't have to be a winner. "Clojure doesn't have to 'win' to win. ...

As a Go player, I must read this. Got a link?
I have a phobia of searching with the word 'Hickey' in the string

Re: A good criticism of the comon lisp language(?)

Just as a teaser to the C/C++/D guy: these languages are just now popularizing the things (e.g. functor objects = manually-rolled lambda closures) which make CL slow and hard to compile efficiently. There are headers in the Boost C++ library which add 30s to a single file's compile time, just by #i...

Re: A good criticism of the comon lisp language(?)

In http://ilc2009.scheming.org/node/7 problems are mentioned, but no solutions. I mean, what alternatives are there? Scheme? Clojure? NewLisp? I dont see that they are really much better in the end (maybe in single concepts, but not in general). Wouldnt it be the best way to say "ok, thats an ...

Re: General question about Garbage Collection

There was once a loadable kernel module that was more-or-less an incomplete(in implementation of the standard) repl. You sent things to /dev/lisp and got results back in sto. It's dead, at the moment. I think it's a decent idea, though. Maybe not in such a 'unixy' way, but maybe so... If it was made...
