Looking for Lisp users/usergroups in Portugal

Post by AlexPaes » Sun Jun 29, 2008 11:22 am

Hi everyone,

I started playing around with Common Lisp about three months ago and i think it's amazing. I was wondering if anyone knows if there's some kind of Lisp usergroup in Portugal? I haven't met anyone that also enjoys Common Lisp and as such i would like to get to know other people for sharing ideas and stories.

At Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisboa, we have a group of people that
meet occasionally to discuss Lisp (including Common Lisp) and other
interesting languages. Sometimes, we also discuss projects and/or new
technologies. Participation is open to everybody.

We had lots of discussions in the past but not so many recently,
mostly because everybody is busy and we do need that people come
forward and propose topics for discussion. If you have something that
you would like to see discussed, just tell me and I'll propose it for
the next meeting.

Hi aml, thanks for your answer. It's great finding out about those meetings at IST, actually about a week or two ago i ran into a very interesting screencast on emacs + slime debugging from a professor at IST (hmmm... just noticing that was probably you...) and i have googled trying to find some kind of Lisp-related usergroup on IST but didn't have much luck.

Since i'm very new to Lisp i don't have any particular topic i'd like to see discussed and my participation would be mostly of a passive listener but i would really like to get some more information on those meetings if possible. Is there any mailing list, newsletter or web resource with information on future meetings and schedules?

Hello.

I'm from Portugal too and I'm interested in learning Lisp. It's nice to know there's people around here who share the same interest.

Hi Rui,

Unfortunately i haven't managed to get any more information about portuguese lisp-related usergroups, maybe if we manage to find some more portuguese lispers we can think about starting some small pt community... i guess it will not be easy since the only portuguese lispers i've managed to find so far are the ones i found here at lispforum, but who knows...

Yeah, a portuguese lisp community would be great, with a forum or something. It would be real nice to get new people interested about Lisp too. It's something we can really think of. Of course we need to find more people with interest too, but that's not an easy task.

You guys are more than welcome to participate in the lisp-br mailing list:

http://lisp-br.org

Although the name says "Brazilian lisp group", I think it would be very cool to have people from other countries as well.
