Light Lispful Linux

Something that might be of interest: I just put up for download a light operating system live CD directed toward people who want to try Lisp without installing anything or configuring it themselves. Since it includes both Python and Lisp, it's called Thnake.

Basically, all you have to do is download and burn the ISO. It is based on Puppy Linux 4.0, and should load straight into RAM and run well on anything with a 486 or better and 256MB or more of RAM. It has Emacs 22.3, SLIME, SBCL 1.22, and LTK preinstalled and configured, along with Python 2.5, Tkinter, Tcl/Tk 8.5, and Conkeror (a Mozilla-based browser with Emacs keybindings).

The link: http://ifile.it/28upfjt/thnake-400.iso.

Enjoy!

Sounds like a great idea! I love the name, too.

So any of you who looked at it are aware, I'm rethinking Thnake; I'm going to drop Python, add a bunch of additional libraries and some documentation and instructional materials, and re-release it with a less silly name. Watch this space.

Conkeror! Huzzah!

I've been meaning to do doc strings for Conkeror forever...

Thnake is really nice to use. Lisp-to-go, wherever (almost) you are.
Please keep it up. Thanks.
